Only about two months left for the organisers to prepare for the 31st CIMAC Congress: From May 19 to 23, 2025, Zurich will become the global hub for the large engine, power drives, and propulsion industry. "We are prepared to welcome about 800 guests from around the world to Zurich," says Dominik Schneiter, CIMAC Congress President and CEO of WinGD. “This year’s gathering of industry leaders is highly anticipated as we address the critical challenges and opportunities facing our sector as action against climate change becomes more urgent. In addition to the comprehensive program that shares the very latest technology & innovation advances, Switzerland's pivotal role in the large engine industry and its central European location are our greatest strengths.”, Schneiter adds.
The pure numbers speak indeed for themselves: Over 500 abstracts have been submitted on seven topics: digitalization, towards net zero, engine optimisation & retrofits, basic research & advanced engineering, and operators' perspective. Just over 200 made it through the rigorous selection process. As at the last congress in Busan, there will also be Pecha Kucha presentations. The preliminary program – soon to be replaced by the final version – spans more than 50 pages. Nearly 50 companies will showcase their offerings in the accompanying exhibition, and the poster sessions are expected to draw significant interest, too.
For the opening, CIMAC has secured Prof. Lynn Loo, CEO at the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation, a leading voice in the clean energy transition as the keynote speaker.
Rick Boom, CIMAC President and Director of Business Development for Woodward, will attend the congress for the first time in his role as CIMAC president. "Having been an active CIMAC member for two decades, I've seen the industry's evolution firsthand and have come to value the congress as a prime venue for gathering information and engaging in discussions with colleagues. Together, we can tackle the challenges and embrace the opportunities ahead to ensure a sustainable and innovative future. The days in Zurich will be instrumental in achieving this."
