The sub-committee on Ship Design and Construction (SDC) of the IMO deals with a wide range of technical and operational matters related to ship design and construction. Its 11th session took place from 13 to 17 January 2025. For CIMAC, participation was like this: Tero Tamminen (Day 1-4, plenary and WG on #8), Leo Budicin (Day 5, online, WG and SDC11 reports), Daniel Erdmann (Day 3, online URN Underwater Radiated Noises workshop). Most important topics related to CIMAC were
- 8) Revision of SOLAS chapters II-1 (part C) and V, and related instruments regarding steering and propulsion requirements, to address both traditional and non-traditional propulsion and steering systems (2.9) and
- 15) Experience-building phase for the reduction of underwater radiated noise from shipping (1.16)
