Mid of February, the IMO sub-committee on Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping (HTW) has been holding its eleventh session. Eero Lehtovaara, Vice President of Digitalization on the CIMAC Board, took part on behalf of CIMAC. Key topics of interest during this session included:

  • Role of the Human Element: This topic is particularly significant for the Digitalization Strategy Group. Discussions will focus on the evolving role of humans in the increasingly digital world of shipping, the growing number of systems on ships, and the importance of integrated system solutions. These discussions will involve all CIMAC Working Groups.
  • Development of a Safety Regulatory Framework: This framework aims to support the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ships through the use of new technologies and alternative fuels. This topic is highly relevant to CIMAC members, who are directly impacted and are key solution providers in this area.

The HTW session promises to be a crucial platform for addressing these pressing issues and advancing the maritime industry’s goals.
